Inspired by the nice plywood platform from StandUpForBrompton.com I developed a dedicated utility luggage platform for Brompton bikes.
It's main purpose is to strap a narrow bag, case, box or other narrow (maybe even long) stuff safe and secure to your Brompton. It also can be used as a platform for kids to stand on, but mind that this version lacks the grip tape of the StandUpForBrompton platform. So it's probably wise to add some yourself in case this is what you want to use it for or just buy the StandupforBrompton platform.
I personally use it to bring small boxes to the post office, for multi-day cycling trips, transport gas bottles for welding and brazing to the supplier for a refill. One hand to the bottle and the other hand on the bar. Don't try this at home, but it can be done ;-)
It sits right on top of the bend of the main tube, securely fastened with two supplied U bolts and sleeve nuts. Your frame is protected by means of an oval piece of rubber made from used Bicycle inner tubes to protect your paint and ensure a good grip of the platform to your frame and a piece of Zefal Skin Armor paint protecting clear adhesive foil.
Assembly instructions:
Start with adding the Skin Armor on the right spot on the curve (see pics above), than stick the rubber patch on it and put the platform right on top, add the bolts, secure the nuts evenly, check if the platform is tight and level and you're done!
See the pics for the ultimate position. You can play with it for like max 2 cm to either side.
