This is the Mk5 iteration of the #mainframehugger aluminium luggage platform inspired by the original kids platform StandupforBrompton made from plywood. The latest MK6 is slightly differrent from the Mk5, which is the longer slots in the in the outer positions (next to the big corner holes), they're now slightly longer to accomodate 25 mm wide webbing and the Voilé Rack strap hooks. The other slots are long enough for the standard 20 mm wide Voilé straps, but the rack strap hooks only fit in the outer slots. If you want that you need the Mk6 and not this Mk5
The Mk5 feautures 3 ways to attach it to your frame (the Mk4 just two)
The main purpose of the #framehugger is to strap a narrow (dry)bag, case, box, tent or other narrow (maybe even long) stuff safe and secure to your Brompton.
I personally use it to bring small boxes to the post office, for multi-day cycling trips, transport gas bottles for welding and brazing to the supplier for a refill. One hand to the bottle and the other hand on the bar. Don't try this at home, but it can be done ;-)
Assembly instructions:
Start with sticking the rubber patch on the main frame, approximately 12 cm from the center of the hinge and put the platform right on top, 7.5 cm from the center of the hinge, add the bolts, secure the nuts evenly, check if the platform is tight and level and you're done! The idea is that the oval chamber/cutout on the underside of the platform should be right on top of the bend section of the main frame and positioned on the rubber patch so the paint of your Brompton doesn't get damaged.
See the pics for the ultimate position. You can play with it for like max 2 cm to either side.
